What a loud bark

To say that Dixie is loud is an understatement. She is ear-piercing LOUD!

That bark of hers echos off the hills, literally. Even as a puppy, that sound hurt our ears. By nature, she is a vocal dog. I just wish she used her vocal talents for something better than breaking our eardrums. One has to experience it firsthand to truly appreciate it.

As an almost adult, she is ten times worse. I actually apologized to the neighbors in advance and prayed that she would not become a non-stop barker. Thank goodness she does not bark non-stop, but there is no missing it when she does. It literally echoes off of the hills.

Puppy loud

Now loud

How loud is LOUD?

I wanted to find out how many decibels Dixie’s bark has, so I downloaded a few free apps (take the results for what they are worth). She kept checking in 99 and 103 decibels. Ouch!

A quick Google search revealed that the sound is comparable to a lawnmower, jackhammer, motorcycle, and car horns. No wonder why it sounds so loud.
